Thee Chef Indie is the culinary, hospitality, and educational expression of Chef India “Indie” Solomon—a professional chef, baker, hospitality leader, and Culinary Arts teacher with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She is also a ServSafe teacher and proctor, helping students prepare for and complete industry-recognized food safety certification.

In her classroom and teaching kitchen, students gain hands-on experience in cooking, baking, food safety, sanitation, teamwork, customer service, kitchen organization, and professional hospitality standards.

Her work goes beyond teaching recipes. Chef Indie helps students build confidence, strengthen leadership skills, earn industry credentials, and explore careers in food and hospitality.

With more than 20 years of experience in restaurants, baking, food service, hospitality management, community food access, and education, Chef Indie brings practical, real-world knowledge into every lesson.

Through Thee Chef Indie, she connects the classroom, kitchen, farm, and community—using food as a tool for education, creativity, confidence, entrepreneurship, and connection.
